This is a newly discovered species of Frankincense is named Occulta Frankincense, it is as ancient as all other Boswellia, yet it remained hidden from botanists until recently. 

Occulta Frankincense is different from all other Boswellia species, set apart by the presence of rare methoxyalkanes and methoxydecanes (methyl esters), normally found in the insect world with spider silks and millipedes.

The sweet, fresh air scent of these methyl esters is evident in Occulta’s resinous aroma - a smooth and uplifting essence unlike other more medicinal frankincense scents.

The Occulta Frankincense tree (Boswellia sacra) is a hardy, slow-growing deciduous tree that flourishes in the harsh, arid landscapes of Oman, Yemen, and Somalia.

 It thrives in rocky, limestone-rich soil, enduring scorching sun and minimal rainfall, where its twisted branches and peeling bark release the prized resin in response to the extreme environment.

Frankincense is harvested by carefully cutting the tree’s bark, allowing the golden resin to seep out and harden into fragrant tears, which are later collected by hand.
