OVERVIEW

Are You Intoxicated Yet?

Vanilla essential oil, extracted from the beans of the Vanilla orchid.

It is one of the rarest and most luxurious botanical oils in the world, known for its rich, creamy aroma with warm, sweet undertones.

Its production is labor-intensive and time-consuming, requiring hand-pollination, meticulous curing, and months of aging, making pure vanilla oil highly prized and expensive.

Beyond its intoxicating scent, it is revered for its soothing, antioxidant-rich properties, making it a treasured ingredient in perfumery, skincare, and aromatherapy.

APPEARANCE

Appearance In Nature

The vanilla plant is a climbing orchid with long, slender green vines that wrap around trees, thriving in warm, tropical forests. Its delicate, pale yellow-green flowers bloom for just one day, requiring careful hand-pollination to produce the long, dark brown seed pods that eventually become the treasured vanilla beans.

Appearance In the Bottle Post Extraction

Light, warm amber tones to this precious liquid.

AROMA

The Classic Sweet Cream Supreme

Vanilla essential oil exudes a rich, warm, and creamy aroma, enveloping the senses in a deeply sweet, slightly smoky, and subtly floral fragrance.

Its scent carries a velvety smoothness with hints of caramel and honey, creating a feeling of comfort, sensuality, and nostalgia.

Unlike synthetic vanilla, pure vanilla essential oil has a complex, layered depth, evoking the essence of aged wood, sun-dried vanilla beans, and the gentle warmth of a tropical breeze.

CONSISTENCY

Can for crystals at times, totally natural and normal with pure vanilla.

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN

Madagascar

Vanilla from Madagascar is considered the finest in the world due to its rich, complex flavour and high vanillin content.

CULTIVATION

Cultivation Practice

The vanilla orchid produces delicate, pale greenish-yellow flowers that bloom for only a single day before wilting.

When successfully pollinated, these flowers develop into long, slender pods, which eventually mature into the fragrant vanilla beans.

A traditional hand-pollination process is used to induce vanilla pod growth.

It was introduced due to the lack of natural pollinators but ensures high-quality beans, which are then carefully cured and sun-dried.

Madagascar's unique climate, with its warm temperatures, high humidity, and fertile volcanic soil, creates ideal growing conditions.

LORE

A Timeless Treat

Vanilla has a rich history that traces back to Mesoamerica, where the Totonac people of modern-day Mexico first cultivated the vanilla orchid around 1,000 years ago.

It was used as both a flavouring and sacred offering, with the Aztecs later adopting it for their royal beverages, especially in a mix with chocolate.

The Spanish explorer Hernán Cortés introduced vanilla to Europe in the 16th century, and over time, it became highly prized in perfumery and as a flavouring agent.

The process of hand-pollinating the vanilla flower, a technique discovered in the early 19th century by Edmond Albius on the island of Réunion, allowed for mass cultivation and trade, cementing vanilla’s place as one of the world’s most beloved and luxurious spices.

MYSTICISM

Its warm, comforting aroma is thought to calm the mind, attract positive energy, and enhance spiritual clarity, making it a favoured ingredient in rituals aimed at self-love, attraction, and relaxation.
